About this tool
Resizing an image is usually a guess: type a width, press a button, open the result, discover it is not what you pictured, and go round again. Here the image is shown at the size it will be exported and you drag its edges to change it, so the frame on screen is the finished picture rather than a promise about one. Corners change both dimensions at once and the side handles change one, with the aspect ratio locked by default so nothing is accidentally squashed — unlock it when you genuinely want to stretch. Exact numbers still matter sometimes, so the width and height fields stay in step with the frame in both directions: drag and the numbers follow, type and the frame follows. Quarter, half and three-quarter presets cover the common cases in one click. Enlarging beyond the original is refused unless you ask for it, because upscaling only adds blur and bytes. Everything happens in your browser, so the picture never leaves your device.

Frequently asked questions
Why can't I make my image bigger?
Because enlarging cannot recover detail that was never in the file. The extra pixels are interpolated from neighbours, so you get a softer image in a larger file. If you need the bigger canvas anyway, tick allow upscaling and it will proceed.
How do I resize without distorting the image?
Leave the aspect ratio locked, which is the default, and set only one dimension. The other is calculated to match. Unlock it only when you deliberately want to stretch or squash the picture to fit a fixed box.
Are my images uploaded anywhere?
No. The image is read from disk into your browser and resized using the browser's own graphics pipeline. Nothing is transmitted, so it is safe for photos of people, documents or anything containing location data.
Will resizing reduce the file size?
Usually, yes, and often dramatically, since file size scales roughly with pixel count. If you want to reduce size without changing dimensions, use the compressor instead, which re-encodes at a lower quality.
What formats can I resize?
JPEG, PNG and WebP. The output keeps the input format by default, so a PNG stays a PNG with its transparency intact. Use the converter if you also want to change format.
